Thanks to some great sponsors and supporters, enough finance was secured to get to Bahrain.

Going all that way, I thought it was only sensible to take advantage of the DRTE trackday first with a hire bike.

Then I could make up my mind whether to commit to the championship, and stay on for the official test day at the end of the week.

It was great to catch up with Dario Marchetti who was the DRE representative for the day; we had some great times racing together in World Endurance. Dario reminded me that when I last rode for him, it was the last time a Ducati was on the podium in a World Endurance race. Great times.

Once I had committed to do the championship, it was time for the official test day; great to meet new riders, but also to catch up with the Brits, Wes Pearce and Ian Charles.

Yep - it was scorchio...

The bikes are all standard Ducati 899s and the races are on the inner track. Finished the test 2nd fastest, and think I know where I can find the missing time.

So there you have it, I'm officially racing in the Bahrain Superbike championship. First round is 21st October, let me know if you'd like some tickets...

To continue to take part in the other races I'm going to need to source further support or financial assistance to help with travel and accommodation.

The whole experience is interesting and exciting. The championship is just in it's second season, so there's a great enthusiastic vibe amongst the organisers, as it potentially could be the start of something that will hopefully go on to greater things throughout the Gulf.

And of course, it's always good to have the opportunity to learn a new track, and it's never hard work riding a Ducati...
